Welcome to Earth and Environmental Science in KBSI
SHRIMP service officially open in September 1st, 2009 !
Please visit shrimp.kbsi.re.kr (Korean-only site) for further SHRIMPing.
Since 1988, Division of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Korea Basic Science Institute has been as a core research group of isotope geochemistry and geochronology in Korea. Currently, we are leading three main research fields; Geochronology, isotope geochemistry and Elemental analysis.
In addition to dozens of state-of-the-art instruments, the latest version of high resolution ion probe was installed at Ochang campus of KBSI in November 2008. Our SHRIMP-IIe/MC is the first SHRIMP in the world in that this smart machine can measure 239- & 240-Pu simultaneously. Multi-collector, remote control, and Cs-gun is also equipped as the complements. As one can easily expect from the name of ‘SHRIMP’, absolute dating using zircon grains (and other minerals) is definitely one of our main projects !
Also recently we got the Finnigan Neptune laser ablation HR-MC-ICP-MS !
Please contact us for the further information. We welcome any inquiries on our NEW dating genius SHRIMP and all other facilities.
